Team Photos from NCDI

These are the teams that went to Whangarei last month and competed at the Northland Cheer and Dance Invitationals. Well done to the teams and duos and individuals that took part – we now look forward to Total Cheerleading's New Zealand Cheer and Dance Internationals on the 26th of September.

So Long, Olivia...!
This month we say goodbye to Olivia from our Junior Level Two team. She will be going to Australia with her parents after being with Pacific for almost 18 months. She joined our PeeWee team early in 2009 and performed at Cheerfest, NZCDI and also all the parades and school galas at the end of the year. She finished 2009 in grand style with a Most Improved Cheerleader Award. This was rewarded by her inclusion in the Junior Level 2 team for 2010.
Olivia has been a fantastic member of the Pacific Family and we will miss her. We hope she goes on to be a fantastic cheerleader in Australia too! Maybe we will compete against her team some day!
Have fun in Australia, and we hope you and your family keep in touch.

First comp for the year...

Cheerfest 2010 was the first competition for this year. After a hard Term Two we went to The TelstraClear Pacific Centre in Manukau to take part in the 3rd Cheerfest run by Total Cheerleading.
We took along five teams this year... Junior Level 1, Junior Level 2, Senior Level 2, Long Bay College and Stella Maris School. A total of 78 cheerleaders, almost double the number from 2009!
Also attending Cheerfest were teams from Australia and the United States. (Editors note: I spent a hilarious time with the Oz and US managers and coaching staff at the After-Event party. What a great bunch of people - and I look forward to meeting them again!) Both nations' teams performed extremely well, and it was a fantastic chance to meet and compete against cheerleaders from other countries.

Our results from respective divisions:
Pacific Junior Level 1: 4th
Pacific Junior Level 2: 2nd
Pacific Senior Level 2: 3rd
Long Bay College (Senior Level 3): 3rd
Stella Maris School (Junior Level 1): 3rd

Well done everyone. Many of our cheerleaders were attending their first competition, but they showed great spirit towards their own teams and also to the members of other cheer companies that attended. Our thanks go to Nik and Kay from Total Cheerleading for putting on a great competition.
We now look forward to our trip to Whangarei to the Northland Cheer and Dance Invitationals on August 7th. With our new cheerleaders now having had their first comp out of the way, we look forward to great things up north. "Bring It On!"

See you all at first class of Term Three... Monday July 19th

Term Three Fees...

Coaching Fees for Term Three will be due from July 27th. Please talk to your coaches about payments. Remember that Pacific team members get free Conditioning classes as part of their fees. Open Gym on Monday nights are $5 for the hour, and a good way to practice some of your harder skills, and also to work on any Individual, Duo or Stunt routines for this competition season.
Fundraising during this term is a good and fun way of getting class and competition fees together. Contact – fundraising@pacific-cheer.com for any suggestions.

Team Captains for 2010...

Congratulations to our new Captains for our three Pacific Cheerleaders Squads.

Temeca   Norah   Hannah   Stacey   Ashleigh

Temeca - Junior Level 1 Captain
Temeca was one of our first cheerleaders and competed at the 2008 NZCDI. After taking a break for a short while she rejoined the Junior Level 1 squad at the beginning of Term 2. Since she's been back, Temeca has taken on a "senior" role on the team, and is really looking forward to this year's competition season.

Norah - Junior Level 1 Co-Captain
Norah is another of our founding cheerleaders. She was at our very first class, and was in our first Peewee Team that represented Pacific at the NZCDI in 2008. Since then she has been to Cheerfest and NZCDI and is a regular at all our public events during the year. Norah has been the recipient of the Pacific Coaches Award 2 years in a row.

Hannah - Junior Level 2 Captain
Hannah has been a major part of our Junior Squad for over 18 months. She has represented Pacific at Cheerfest, NCDI in Whangarei and NZCDI, and has been to almost every one of our public performances to date. Hannah is one of our "smiliest" cheerleaders, and is always encouraging her team-mates to perform at their best. She was Most Improved Cheerleader for 2009.

Stacey - Senior Captain
Stacey has been a Pacific Senior for over 12 months. She is always at the forefront of the team with her great smile and bubbly personality. Never one to shy away from a challenge, she entered the individual division at her first competition and blew us all away with her talent. She has competed at NCDI and NZCDI. Stacey was awarded the Pacific Spirit Award in 2009.

Ashleigh - Senior Co-Captain
Ashleigh is the out-going Captain of the senior team, and will be vice-captain for 2010. She has been a Pacific Cheerleader since the beginning, and coaches our Junior Level 1 and 2 teams. She has always shown great team ethics, and is always on hand to help up-and-comers enjoy the sport. She has competed at Cheerfest, NCDI and NZCDI at team and individual levels. Ashleigh was Coach of the Year in 2008 and Cheerleader of the Year for 2009.
